´╗┐Trading Orange for Crimson

The lacrosse world is all atwitter with the not quite confirmed news that Gary Gait will helm the women's program at Syracuse. But 4-chlorodehydromethyltestosterone the job opening with the Orange was newsworthy even before the Great One got involved.

Most coaches would have taken a well deserved rest on their laurels after a 13 6 season and winning the inaugural Big East tournament championship. But former Syracuse head coach Lisa Miller, seemingly an afterthought in the Gait saga, wanted more and found it elsewhere.

Miller spent a decade building Syracuse's program from the ground Buy Cheap Jintropin Online up, and now she's moving on to a fixer upper. And if shrewd buyers go for the worst house on the best block, Miller got a steal with Harvard.

A perpetual scratch in the competitive Ivy League, the Crimson was 5 11 (2 5 in conference) in 2007. It was Harvard's fifth straight year under .500. Most of the losses came by 10 or more goals.

"Not to be gruesome about it, but people were depressed. It's really tough, especially when you know the talent is on the team," said senior captain Tara Schoen. "I think lacrosse is all about momentum. When you get into a slump to losing, you become numb to it."

After former Harvard coach Sarah Nelson stepped down, the athletic department asked for team input on the new coach. The players were blunt in their demands.

"We wanted our butts to be kicked," said Schoen. "We need to start a tradition Dianabol 20mg Cycle of winning and to do that it starts from the top."

Miller certainly has the credentials for that her .664 career winning percentage ranks 10th among active coaches and she has hired an assistant coach who also knows something about winning. Sarah Albrecht, a two time NCAA champion player at Northwestern and a member of Team USA, will join the Harvard staff after spending a season as an assistant at UMass.

"I'll do exactly what I did at Syracuse focus on the little things, do them "Anaboliset Aineet" well, bring a little more structure and build from there," Miller said. "Lacrosse isn't anything fancy you buy into a system and you do things well. Then you can compete."

Harvard returns all but one player in 2008. Miller's first order of business will likely be to tighten up the defense, which allowed 15.50 goals per game in 2007. Katherine Martino was the team's sole goalkeeper last season, playing 60 minutes in every game as a freshman. Martino will compete against senior Kathryn Tylander for minutes in 2008.

Tylander hasn't played for the past two years, first due to a torn ACL and then taking a season off to concentrate on an academic project. (Hey, it is the Ivy League.)

Besides the love of a challenge, there were some more concrete reasons for Miller's move. She is a Massachusetts native and the Harvard job brings her closer to two things she loves her family and the ocean. The pull of nostalgia was strong, too.

"In the back of my mind, it's the Anavar For Weight Loss job that I had always wanted," said Miller, who grew up watching games at Harvard. "I think it has the potential to compete nationally."

"Whatever it takes, we want to graduate with one year feeling like a winner," said Schoen. "I feel like there's going to be a lot of talk about Harvard lacrosse over the next few years."

Orange standout would welcome Gait

Part of Miller's legacy at Syracuse was engineering a high octane offense. The Orange was fifth in the nation with 14.99 goals per game in 2007, when eight different players scored at least 10 goals during the season.

The Orange earned those points the same way Gait's old Syracuse men's teams did, 4-chlorodehydromethyltestosterone with an aggressive run and gun offense that relied on physicality and creative shooting. If Gait does in fact become the coach, the Syracuse attack could become even more explosive under the tutelage of one of the game's best shooters.
